Speaking of Work

The woman I spend most of my time alone with in the office is pregnant. This is all fine and good except that hearing her talk about all the bizarre things that happen to you when you are pregnant (or maybe just spending so much time sitting in the same tiny room soaking up all her radiating fucked up hormones) has left me all weird inside it seems. I actually drove to the HyVee at 11 last night just because I couldn't go one more second without eating two different varieties of cook and serve Jello Pudding.

Needless to say, waiting for that shit to cool was one of the hardest things I've had to do in a while.
(And I'm not going to lie and say I didn't burn my tongue last night).

I emailed my Dad a few days ago from work in Swisher where the temp was -18 degrees with windchills below -30.

He emailed me back: It made me so sad that it was warmer in the cartoon than where I was right then.

Thanks Dad.

People wonder why I like horses

It's super snowy and cold in Iowa right now (as in I actually saw -8 first hand) so that means it's time to break out all the green and navy blankets at the horse barn where I work. I've been spending most of my time in the office and haven't been out to the pastures to visit in a while so today, it was beautiful with a light drifty snow coming down, I decide to make the trek.

I get to the gate and there are our two biggest horses, Chance and Griffin. Chance is an ex-crowd control police horse and Griffin is a huge retired Thoroughbred racehorse, both are quite beautiful and majestic and all that. Anyway, Griffin is following Chance as he makes his way over to greet me at the gate. All the sudden out come the teeth and Grif. grabs the butt end of Chance's blanket. Chance seems completly unphased at first and attemps to press on, but Griffin hunkers down almost to the point of sitting completly on his haunches. Because the snow is too slick for either of to gain any ground in the tug of war, they just sit there, Griffin pulling back with all his might while Chance strains against his now firmly anchored winter blanket.

Eventually Chance does break free and heads towards me, but at this point it's too cold for me and Griffin is already sneaking up for round two. I head back to the office for a coffee.
